Ben McElreath, Jr. is a Partner at Martin Snow, LLP and part of Martin Snow’s real estate law division.  His practice is devoted to a variety of real estate law matters, including the closing of residential and commercial real estate sale transactions; the handling of refinances and construction loans; the drafting and negotiation of leases and contracts; and the review of surveys, title insurance matters and title abstracts.  Ben works with builders and developers to acquire and progress commercial and residential properties.  He also handles transactions involving agricultural land and timber parcels.  By representing individual investors and major institutional lenders, Ben has extensive experience in drafting agreements and closing documents related to the acquisition and securitizing of residential and commercially developed and undeveloped properties. His clients include numerous banks, mortgage brokers, relocation companies, developers, title insurance companies and investors.  

Ben was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia.  After graduating cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Georgia in 2000, he went on to attend Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law. During the summer of 2002, Ben served as a clerk for Justice P. Harris Hines of the Supreme Court of Georgia.  In 2003, he graduated from the Walter F. George School of law and was admitted to practice law in Georgia.  

He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, Real Property Law Section; Macon Bar Association and an affiliate member of the Middle Georgia Association of Realtors and the Middle Georgia Chapter of the Women’s Council of Realtors.  Ben also works closely with the Middle Association of Homebuilders. Ben additionally serves on the Board of Directors of Heart & Sole, Inc. and is outside legal counsel for Macon Area Habitat for Humanity, Inc.  Ben also teams with Georgia Legal Services Program to volunteer his legal services clinics held at the Southside Community Church in the Lynmore Estates neighborhood. He is a graduate of Leadership Macon’s 2010 class and was recently recognized by the American Red Cross as “Hometown Hero” in 2016.
