Edward J. Harrell

1944-2016

Jerry Harrell is a deceased partner having practiced in the firm’s business section.

Jerry received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in 1966 and his Juris Doctor degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 1969. Jerry obtained an L.L.M. in taxation from Emory University in 1970. He was a member of the Macon Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia and the Florida Bar. Since 1978, the firm, under Jerry’s leadership, has served as general counsel for the Georgia Community Bankers Association. In addition, he moderated the Community Bankers Association of Georgia Regulation and Tax Liaison Committee’s quarterly meetings and frequently addressed Georgia bankers on a variety of legal subjects. He also served as the chief investment officer of a large private foundation and managed a private investment partnership for business associates.

Jerry served on the Board of Trustees of Mercer University, as a board member of the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism, as president of the Macon Bar Association, and on the endowment committee of the Museum of Arts and Science.

Jerry was named as a Super Lawyer in 2013 by Georgia’s Super Lawyers magazine, an honor achieved each year by only 5 percent of Georgia attorneys.
